Certification as a Imago Dei Mentors is open to to those who possess the required academic potential, moral rectitude, and mature wisdom. Thus candidates with life experience and an unique aptitude both for empathetic mentoring and understanding and living the Imago Dei Way are ideal. The normal certification process for mentors is 2 years. Mentors in training must be able to give multiple detailed narrative accounts verbally and in writing of their application of the Imago Dei Way in personal, familial, or community settings before certification.
Certified Psychomoralists are taken from the rank of Imago Dei Mentors and are qualified to teach the Imago Dei Way and supervise the training of mentors. Certification as a psychomoralist normally takes an additional 1.5 to 2.5 years (with certification in mentoring 3 -4 in total), though conditional certification may be granted prior and time extensions are granted. A Master Degree in Philosophy or possibly a related field (Theology, Great Books, Psychology) or its informal equivalent is also required. Psychomoralitic certification requires the supervision of mentoring casework, the passing of both written and oral exams, the submission of detailed Imago Dei Way case histories, and an Imago Dei Way or Psychomoralitic thesis.
